In this episode of The Dive Locker Podcast we discuss what it’s like being a diving professional in the United Kingdom with Rosemary Lunn.
Welcome To The Show!
Welcome to The Dive Locker Podcast, the podcast for dive professionals where we bring you the latest in diving industry resources that make you excellent at teaching techniques, risk management and dive business.
Last year at this time I was a keynote speaker at the Go Diving Show in Coventry England, just outside of London. As I’ve mentioned before this was one of the best consumer diving shows I’ve ever been to. I got to meet so many dive pro’s and shared many pints of Guinness with them. One diving industry colleague that I met was Rosemary Lunn aka Roz. And she shared with me some very interesting and unique attributes of being a dive pro in the UK. So in honor of the International Women’s Day earlier this week I had Roz share with us what it’s like being a dive pro in the UK.
Here’s a little about Roz. Roz is the Business Development Director at The Underwater Marketing Company. This British firm specializes in providing marketing, communications, social media and event management for the Recreational and Technical Diving Industry.
Born in Essex, England Rosemary fulfilled her long-held desire to learn to scuba dive in 1992, and by
1997 Rosemary turned Pro and proudly achieved her PADI Instructor rating. Roz has taught in Turkey, Egypt and the UK. She has toured with Drager rebreathers and worked on the HMHS Britannic expedition.
Her journalism skills had her writing for various magazines such as 9>90 and X-Ray magazine. She turned her craft for writing into marketing where she has worked with Dive Rite, Fourth Element and Poseidon as well as major dive agencies.
In 2008 she co-founded EuroTek and in 2014 she established TEKDiveUSA.
She is an Associate Member of the Women Divers Hall of Fame, a SSI Platinum Diver, and takes an active role in the diving industry. She sits on the SITA Board (Scuba Industry Trade Association), and the British Diving Safety Group.
