Welcome To The Show!
Welcome to The Dive Locker Podcast, the podcast for dive professionals where we bring you the latest in diving industry resources that make you excellent at teaching techniques, risk management and dive business.
If there is one exercise that I could hold up as being the most significant exercise for Aquatic comfort it would be the facial immersion drill.
This technique has been used by freedivers, competitive free divers and it’s my understanding that the late Tom Mount, was the first to teach this in technical diver training. It is by far the fastest way to bring Aquatic comfort for all mask clearing exercises. It’s simple, quick to master and does not take long to do in confined water or open water dives.
This drill even taps into diving physiology. Yes the mammalian diving reflex can be stimulated in humans, and not only under life threatening circumstances.
So today I want to share with you my favorite skill for bringing Aquatic comfort to freedivers, beginning open water diver students, Divemasters and Instructors.
