Hey everybody welcome to 2023! I hope you had wonderful holidays I certainly did, spending lots of time with friends and family and also getting to do some epic travel to Colorado for some amazing skiing and snowboarding with my family.
So now that it’s 2023 what plans do you have? Any big resolutions that you’ve made? Many of us use this time to make both personal and professional resolutions for the new year. And in today’s episode I would like to encourage you on a professional resolution, and that is to open up your diving business in whatever way shape or form you’re diving business is, to the Human Diver program and specifically the Essentials course that Gareth Lock with the Human Diver puts on.
As you know we’ve had Gareth on this show on a couple different occasions but at the end of last year I took his Essentials online course. And I was blown away with how good it is and how much I learned. As you know I’m a risk management guy it’s my background and it’s my focus today. However the essentials course is so valuable and rich that I have now adopted it in the NSU Academic Diving Program for our staff.
And just this week as we kicked off our first semester of 2023, our first staff meeting was centered around this training that I had provided for each of our staff members. The feedback was amazing! And one of the greatest calls to action is what will you change about your diving operations after taking this course? That was pivotal for my team of Divemasters and Instructors. We all embraced the concept and came up with strategies to better our program.
In fact this course will now be included in our divemaster training and a requirement for anyone to work at our dive program.
So in today’s episode Gareth Lock and I discuss his Essentials course in detail and this is a great conversation that will have you understanding why the title is Essentials. Because in my opinion this training is essential for any diving professional of any level.
