In this episode of The Dive Locker Podcast we learn about the economics of being a diving instructor with Darcy Kieran.
Welcome To The Show!
Welcome to The Dive Locker Podcast, the podcast for dive professionals where we bring you the latest in diving industry resources that make you excellent at teaching techniques, risk management and dive business.
Today we get to continue a conversation from episode 87 The Economics of Being a Diving Instructor Part 1 with Darcy Kieran, where we explored how the passion for the profession collides with the costs of being a professional. Darcy is the founder of the Business of Diving Institute and he has conducted a large-scale industry-wide survey for diving instructors regarding the economics of being a diving instructor. So today we hear from Darcy about this survey data that he’s uncovered. And Ill say right off the bat, this is sobering information but at the same time it is enlightening – because in my mind, it proves there is growth and opportunity in our industry. I really think you’ll like our chat about this.
Also, I want to give a shoutout to Ted Harty with Immersion Freediving, he is putting on the first ever Freediving Summit. You heard him talk about it in last week’s episode. This is where 29 of the worlds best in freediving were assembled for individual interviews if you are into freediving at all, or are even remotely interested in the sport, you’ve got to check it out. Simply access the Freediving Summit by going to the Freediving Summit link on our show notes page for this episode over at ScubaGuru.com.
