Jill Heinerth – Underwater Explorer & Producer
In this podcast I chat with Jill Heinerth. Jill Heinerth is credited with being a legendary underwater explorer and an award-winner underwater productions producer. Jill began her diving as a university student, but quickly turned passionate about the sport and began teaching as soon as she could. She was drawn to cave diving and was given the opportunity to do some underwater filming on the Wakulla cave system mapping project. This began the underwater productions business she has today.
Jill has dozens of distinguished awards in our industry including the women’s world record for deep cave penetration, the Our World Underwater Distinguished Service Award, an inaugural member of the Women Divers Hall of Fame, the Wyland ICON award, and Jill has just been awarded the prestigious NOGI award from the Academy of Underwater Arts and Sciences. She has also won numerous awards at film festivals for her films and documentaries. Jill has authored hundreds of diving articles and she is an author of several books and dvd’s including Underwater Video for Scuba Divers, Chester the Manatee and Very, Very, Terribly Bad Itch, Women Underwater, The Basics of Rebreather Diving, We Are Water, and, her book The Essentials of Cave Diving just released its third edition.
