In this episode of The Dive Locker Podcast we learn how to professionally present ourselves in virtual meetings and in virtual classrooms with Mark Bowden.
Welcome To The Show!
Welcome to The Dive Locker Podcast, the podcast for dive professionals where we bring you the latest in diving industry resources that make you excellent at teaching techniques, risk management and dive business.
Hi everyone, welcome to The Dive Locker. Thanks for joining me today. In 2020 Zoom became a household name. Doesn’t matter who you are or what you do, chances are you have been on Zoom or Skype meetings more than ever. We see this a great deal in the workplace as people work from home, and we are also seeing it in education. Whether it’s virtual meetings or virtual classrooms, you as a dive professional need to master this area especially as it relates to how you are presenting yourself to others.
And today we have one of the worlds foremost authorities on body language and presentation, that is Mark Bowden from TRUTHPLANE where he helps people all over the world stand out, win trust and gain credibility every time they speak. This is perfect for us dive professionals – and it gets better, not only did I record the audio of our interview I also recorded the video so that you can actually see the things he’s talking about. So listen to this episode but then make it a point to watch this interview on my YouTube channel called The Scuba Guru YouTube Channel. Look for Beyond the Standard Episode 17 You will see all the things he and I talk about. So check that out.
Also, I am so excited to announce our first patrons of The Dive Locker podcast! Last week for our one year anniversary I announced that I’m asking fans of this show to help sponsor it. Each week I spend about 4 hours or more to produce and launch one episode – this week was double that because of producing the YouTube video to go with it. To help keep this podcast strong and valuable for you, I’m asking YOU to be a sponsor, a patron of The Dive Locker podcast.
It’s only $4 per month – that’s $1 per episode, that’s all I’m asking for you to support this show. But if you absolutely love this show and you got a little more bank, then you can be at the Rockstar level patron for $10 a month. When you become a supporter of The Dive Locker at either level, you’ll get a shout out from me on the next episode after you join. You will also be listed on the Patrons of Dive Locker Podcast webpage. And you will receive 10% off any ScubaGuru Academy course at the patron level, and 20% off at the Rockstar level. And of course my undying appreciation for helping support the show.
So I’m delighted to give a shoutout to our first supporters. A huge thanks to Chris Hart and Stephen Wheelan for being the very first patrons. Chris is a technical diving instructor, Navy Veteran, and Ironman triathlete and he owns Hart Divers International leading private full-service scuba diving expeditions in Illinois and the Mid-West. And Stephan Wheelan, my brother from across the pond, is the founder of DeeperBlue.com. DeeperBlue is the World’s Largest Community dedicated to Freediving, Scuba Diving, Ocean Advocacy, and Diving Travel. And he just recently launched a podcast as well called the DeeperBlue Podcast. It is great, give it a listen. Thanks Stephan.
And just today prior to me recording this, our first Rockstar patron level came on board – but I didn’t have enough time to get more information on him, but thank you so much Thomas Jensen. I’m connected with a couple Thomas Jensen’s so I don’t know which one yet. But anyhow thank you Thomas, Chris and Stephan for kicking off our new listener sponsorship!

Oh and speaking of podcasts, I was recently on The Big Scuba Podcast. This podcast is out of the UK and Ian and Gemma are super nice hosts. Its always weird to be interviewed by someone else, I’m always doing the interviews myself. So checkout The Big Scuba Podcast where you listen to podcasts.
I also recorded an upcoming episode of Divers Ready! with James Blackman. Hands down the best YouTube channel for diving! More on that in the next episodes.
