Again today I join you from the road. I’m all jacked-up on decaf coffee and nature. Yes, I’m on an epic road trip in West Virginia and North Carolina. Why, because I can’t get enough of nature. It is healthy to leave the ocean once and a while an get to the mountains.
Now whether my family and I hike or bike, it has to involve water somehow. We’re always searching for activities that take us into rivers, streams and lakes while we’re in the mountains. And one of our favorite things to do is whitewater rafting. I’ve been doing it since I was a kid with my parents, and my wife and I have been taking our kids since they were really young. So this year we went big in West Virginia with one of my favorite adventure outfitters ACE Adventure Resort.
And that is the inspiration of this episode. Yes, we had a blast and those of you who are my personal Facebook friends have seen our awesome whitewater photos. But I’m talking about the culture. The workplace culture of ACE was strong and solid. They sold the whitewater lifestyle, and did it with a strong workplace culture.
That is what I want to share with you today, because whitewater rafting is quite similar to scuba diving. They are both outdoor adventures, that are super fun, but have some healthy risks. They both rely on technology and techniques to keep people alive in these hazardous environments.
So today we are going to address what makes a strong workplace culture.
